I AM NOT YOUR GURU…

I AM AN ACCREDITED WELLBEING LIFE COACH WITH A STRONG BACKBONE OF BUSINESS ACUMEN IN THE CONSUMER BRAND AND ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY.

I’ve worked for myself since I was 28 and ran my own business since I was 29, which gave me a big wake up call and fast tracked my own self development journey. Very quickly I had to address who I was if I was going to survive this turbulent road ahead.

As we become a nation of jungle gym careers, job titles followed by forward slash, forward slash, forward slash, I am excited to have gained my qualification as a Wellbeing Life Coach this year. As I enjoy working with business owners and consulting on their brands, I’ve often found myself coming back to their personal wellbeing. So much in fact, I wrote an unpublished 15,000 word short book on it at the start of the year.

My mission now is to help people who want to improve aspects of their life. As a coach I guide clients through the process of creating a vision for their wellbeing, and provide the necessary bespoke tools to help them navigate their own journey. I also draw on my continued experience of over 10 years working for luxury and lifestyle brands with some of the biggest blue chips to the mighty start-up, celebrities and influencers propelled into the spotlight. It’s through my work with owners, founders, and like-minded individuals that’s made me see how important it is to have a strong mind, body and soul before you conquer the world of life. After looking back at my own career and one stand out time when I was struggling with pressure, I had no support from anyone senior to guide me, I was isolated, surrounded by a very cold all female team and no one I could confide in, moreover, no one who was bothered about my personal wellbeing to be kind and ask if I was ok? My health was suffering, I was getting migraines most weeks by the end. Something had to give. This experience ultimately led me to quitting on the spot. Working for the very top companies, you’re led to believe that it the culture of working for the best in the business. But it’s not. There are so many unhappy people, people with real talent, sitting at their desks in top corporations feeling exactly the same. Isolated, undervalued and wishing they were somewhere else.

WHAT DO I WANT TO DO?

Simply, I want to be present within corporations to instill wellbeing coaching as part of all level of employees daily routine. This isn’t about listening to a mindfulness podcast in the office and hoping, it’s about working 1-1 with people on a deeper level to make small tweaks so each person can be happier, to trust themselves and regain control. What do the corporations get? Bigger profits.

WHAT’S THE BIGGES CHALLENGE TODAY TO YOUR WELLBEING?

STRESS!

Beat stress. Live a better life. Earn more money. Be healthier. Sleep better. Eat better. Smile more…. the list is endless!

Don’t think quitting your job and starting your own business exempts you from stress. It doesn’t. You just move the stress to a different place. Stress never goes away if you don’t stop it. Face it like a warrior. But a warrior in battle with an army of people to help, because doing alone is impossible.

There is no point continuing to be all British about this, stiff upper lip and all, we need to face this head on. Wellbeing isn’t about yoga wearing, green tea drinking, acai bowl eating middle aged women trying to find themselves, preaching what perfect spiritual lives we should lead*, telling you to be more mindful when you have a shit load of pressure riding on your shoulders, and could really do without someone’s higher moral ground. (*These women are wonderful though!)

Wellbeing is a state of mind.

Live life in the present. Then assess what area of your life you would like to improve. It’s setting goals, and achieving goals. Yes, it is about breathing, visualisation, yoga, meditation, food, diet, defining your values… it is about our entire personal being and how we respond to our environment.

Wellbeing is about being aware of the in-perfect balance life will continue to throw at you, at work and in your own home, not how social media can make life seem #instaperfect as it’s IMPOSSIBLE to reach a perfect state of anything! We all have a very different definition of what perfect is, maybe write down what your’s is? Who is it? Are you it? Why not? What do you feel is missing? Why do you want it? How do you feel when you don’t reach perfection?

Probably stressed!

This year I developed five principles I believe really work if you’re willing to start looking inwards and make changes to your life. They’re by no means exclusive, but a starting point to getting back on track and living in the present moment at work, at home and anywhere else you may be. We all really want to be free of stress, don’t we? It will never go away, but how you choose to respond to it will decide how stress shows up.

We really do have choices in life, and they don’t all come easily, just choosing to leave work on time to make a spinning class can fill your body with stress, anxiety and nerves; “What if people think I’m not doing my job perfectly?’

Wellbeing is something all CEO’s, Founders, Exec Boards, MDs etc. need to be driving into their businesses, if their businesses are to succeed in the modern world and employees of these corporations have any chance of surviving.

We all have a duty to ourselves, to put ourselves first in a non-ego way, no one persons wellbeing is more important than the other, we all need to take care and strive to live fulfilled lives, whatever that means to each individual person. As we spend most of our days in an office, at work, this is the place that MUST begin to lead our hierarchy of wellbeing needs first. Employees need the support of corporations to lead this, and corporations need to trust that putting people before business is exactly what the world needs to survive in the 21st Century.

We have entered a new business revolution.

Let’s talk,
