There is real beauty in not overthinking something. I hear it so often from people, ‘I’m going to start a business next year…’ Well I hate to burst your bubble, but it’s not quite that simple or that straight forward, perhaps like planning for your first child. If you knew what you were letting yourself in for, you might never do it.
Having a grand plan for most entrepreneurs is not how they reached success and made their millions, instead it’s being completely blind to the journey but yet totally in control of where they want to get to. Most often than not it’s never a conscious decision, it just kind of happened.
A fantastic example of this is Kate & Andy Spade, selling their business ‘Kate Spade’ for a mere $59 million after deciding to give fashion a go because ‘Kate loved handbags’. That is a good enough reason than any in my opinion, passion will always prevail and it certainly did for the Spades.
Host Guy Raz dives into the stories behind some of the world’s best known companies. How I Built This weaves a narrative journey about innovators, entrepreneurs, idealists, and the movements they built. Listen to Kate Spade’s story HERE
